At the Rhythm of the Vine

Living and working in harmony with nature on Etna

An ordered succession, according to a certain frequency, of any form of movement that unfolds over time: this is the definition of rhythm.
Those who tend the land inevitably follow the rhythm of nature, the specific timing of the productive cycle of the plant they tend.
For us, it is the vine, a fascinating and complex companion, capable of teaching patience and attention.

The Rhythm of the Vine

Every year, the vine makes the same journey.
After the winter rest, between March and April, bud break arrives: the buds open and the first green shoots herald a new season.
In June, the flowering period begins, brief and delicate; fruit set follows, when the flowers transform into small grapes.
In midsummer, veraison marks the turning point: the Nerello Mascalese grapes turn red, verging on violet, a vibrant hue that precedes ripening.

Then the slow ripening, favored by Etna’s cool nights and sunny days, enriches the aromas and refines the structure.
Finally, between September and October, comes the harvest, the culmination of months of daily care.

Each phase follows an orderly sequence, but not without surprises: sudden rains, long periods of drought, pests, and diseases.
Our task is to protect this rhythm, intervening only when necessary, to allow the plant to complete its natural cycle.

The Rhythm of Humans

Alongside the slow pace of the vineyard, there is the fast pace of society: travel, events, meetings with enthusiasts and colleagues.
A frenetic pace that takes us far away, but that makes us appreciate even more the return among the rows, in the silence of the mountain that watches over us and our grapes.

Harvest time

Harvest brings with it intense days: waking up before dawn, hands picking fragrant bunches of grapes, quick decisions to preserve freshness and integrity.
It’s the fastest heartbeat of the entire year, yet, among the leaves protecting the fruit, everything continues to flow peacefully, as if nature had already written its score.

A privilege to cherish

Living and working to the rhythm of the vine is a privilege we don’t take for granted.
Every year, every harvest reminds us that wine is born first and foremost from the balance between man and nature.
Our Etna wines—from Rosso to Bianco, from Rosé to the Cru di Contrada—bring this unique rhythm to the glass: the slowness of the seasons, the strength of the volcano, the dedication of those who experience it every day.
